General Summary:

We are seeking a junior to mid-level Electronics Design Engineer that is eager to learn and grow as part of our design team. Via Technology is a small custom electronics design firm located in the suburbs of Buffalo, NY. For over twenty years we have been developing circuit design and software solutions for a wide range of clients from small start-up firms to large established companies. Our clients come from a variety of industries including aerospace and defense firms, medical device manufacturers, and industrial and commercial product providers.

By their nature our projects are highly varied both in the type of application and their complexity. The constant variety in assignments continually gives our engineers the opportunity to gain exposure to different products and the component families and technologies most applicable to their development. As such, Via Technology provides an ideal environment for the technically focused engineer eager to apply and grow their design engineering skills on a continuous basis.

We expect our engineers to be self-driven and productive, but we don’t expect long work weeks with lots of unpaid hours like many employers. Desired Skills and Characteristics:

• Resident of Buffalo or WNY area (we are not looking to relocate staff)
• U.S. citizen
• BSEE or MSEE or comparable degree
• 2 to 10 years of electronics engineering experience with specific experience in design of digital and/or analog circuit boards preferred (schematic design, component selection, and successful test and launch of circuit boards). We will consider entry level for the right candidate
• Software and/or FPGA programming experience a plus
• Experience debugging and integrating your designs into systems as part of a team of engineers
• Experience in the use of related software tools and test equipment
• Strong verbal and written communications skills
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team as the task may require. This includes evaluating a proposed task, helping to establish a labor estimate and schedule, working to that estimate, and escalating any issues to help keep your task on schedule and cost targets.
• Comfortable and mature when working with clients
• Desire to learn from more experienced staff and to grow as a contributor over time
• Ability to occasionally travel for short periods of time (days to a week) if the project requires
